Caps lose Wideman to injury on Tuesday

Dennis Wideman exited Tuesday's shootout loss to Carolina in the second period after taking a hit from Tuomo Ruutu.
Wideman appeared to be off balance before the collision and he did not return to the game afterward. He has been averaging 24:04 of ice time per game since joining the Capitals from Florida at the trade deadline, so his absence on the blueline will be felt if he is out for an extended period.
