If CBA agreed to, 56-game season possible

Although it does not look likely at the moment, if the NHLPA and the NHL can quickly agree on an new CBA, there could be a 56-game schedule.
It is a widely held belief that at this point the maximum number of games that could be played is 48. However, if the league cancelled a round of playoffs, a 56-game schedule is possible provided the season starts no later than January 25th. We can't help it if we continue to be optimistic.
