Jonas Hiller isn't eligible to be sent down to the AHL on a conditioning stint because the trade deadline has past.
If Hiller was allowed to go on a conditioning stint, the Ducks might have exercised that option. As it is, they're in a very difficult position. Hiller looked very rusty when he attempted to return on Thursday. He's had a great season, but the Ducks don't have the luxury to allow him to get comfortable on the job. They are still battling for a playoff spot and even if they clinch with a few games to spare, they will likely still be battling for positioning. It will be interesting to see if Anaheim decides to risk using Hiller again before the end of the season.
