Marlins interested in Mike Lowell?
Mike Lowell - 3B - Boston Red Sox
March 15, 2010 - 9:16 PM ET

According to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald, the Marlins were among those in attendance to check out Mike Lowell (thumb) in his exhibition debut on Monday.

The Marlins have discussed Lowell internally, but their level of interest is not clear at this time. It may ultimately depend on how comfortable they are with Gaby Sanchez or Logan Morrison at first base or Rule 5 selection Jorge Jimenez at third. Fortunately, the Marlins have the flexibility of moving Jorge Cantu back to first base, if needed. The Red Sox would likely have to eat most of Lowell's $12 million salary in order to get a deal done, but any interested team would like to see how his surgically-repaired thumb responds to game action.
