Encarnacion (wrist) could start season on DL
Edwin Encarnacion - 3B - Toronto Blue Jays
March 15, 2010 - 7:45 PM ET

Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston said there's a chance that Edwin Encarnacion (wrist) could open the season on the disabled list.

Encarnacion is still sidelined after undergoing surgery to remove bone spurs from his left wrist in October. Gaston isn't sure when he'll return to the lineup. "He's still just trying to get the strength back in his hand," said Gaston. "We've still got almost two and a half weeks or something like that. Hopefully he's going to have a chance to start the season. If not, we'll start with him on the DL." If he was to open the season on the disabled list, there would be a significant fallout on the roster, the most notable of which would be Jose Bautista shifting from the outfield to third base.
