Mets make roster cuts

Mets optioned RHPs Eddie Kunz and Clint Everts to Triple-A Norfolk; optioned 3B Shawn Bowman to Double-A Binghamton; reassigned RHPs R.A. Dickey, Jack Egbert, Josh Fogg, LHPs Travis Blackley, Arturo Lopez, Eric Niesen and Bobby Livingston, INFs Andy Green, Luis Hernandez, Mike Hessman, Mike Cervenak and Jesus Feliciano and OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis to minor league camp.
Slowed after tweaking a side muscle while swinging a bat early in camp, Fogg failed to make a Grapefruit League appearance. It's safe to say you won't be hearing Kunz's name in a "closer of the future" debate any time soon. He allowed five runs in 2 1/3 innings of work this spring. Niesen could be an interesting option out of the pen as a second left-hander if he continues to progress this season.
