Nieve, Niese struggle versus Cardinals

Fernando Nieve and Jon Niese both allowed two earned runs in three innings Monday versus the Cardinals.
Nieve started and gave up five hits, walked one and struck out none. Niese took over to begin the fourth. He allowed an unearned run to go along with the two earned, but he was otherwise more effective in allowing four hits, walking none and striking out two. At this point, Hisanori Takahashi might have a better chance than Nieve of overtaking Niese for the fifth spot in the Mets rotation.
