Teddy Purcell set to bolt to Europe

Teddy Purcell called the negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement "hopeless" on Monday.

The latest developments, which includes the messiness of last Thursday's media conferences and Monday's cancellations of games through Dec. 30, have left Purcell feeling dejected. The Tampa Bay winger said he expects to be playing in Europe not long after Christmas unless something changes. "I've been trying to stay positive the last couple of months that something was going to get done," Purcell said. "Hopefully, something still gets done, but I don't want to take a whole year off. I know I want to go play. You just want to stay competitive."
