Rangers owner James Dolan wants to be involved in any players/owners-only meeting.
Dolan does not have a good relationship with commissioner Gary Bettman dating back to at least 2007, but he was an integral part in the NBA owners' negotiating committee last year and could have similar widespread influence if he's present for the NHL talks. Thus far, only four owners have been in on the negotiating committee: Jeremy Jacobs (Bruins), Ted Leonsis (Capitals), Murray Edwards (Flames) and Craig Leipold (Wild). The Rangers stand to lose at least $60 million this year if the season is canceled. Before Dolan gets his wish, though, the NHLPA has to agree to this meeting, and then Bettman has to allow the Rangers' owner to attend.
