The players need to respect and understand that. Don't go bad-mouthing Bettman like that." The players have plenty of reasons to view Bettman as an adversary right now, given that he is - rightly or wrongly - the face of this lockout and the two that came before it. At the same time, the NHL has grown dramatically under Bettman's tenure and the players have gained greatly for it.
