NHL to cancel games through Dec. 15 in a week
Sidney Crosby - C - Pittsburgh Penguins
Nov. 15, 2012 - 1:45 AM ET

According to Chris Botta of the Sports Business Journal, if there is no CBA agreement within the next seven days, the NHL will cancel games through Dec. 15.

Botta's source says the cancellation after that one "could be the season" and that the "drop-dead date" will be coming soon after that. The two sides have reacquainted themselves with their staring contest of late, as no face-to-face meetings have taken place since Sunday. Depending on who you listen to, the owners and the union are either still very far apart or a deal could come together very quickly with some concessions. In actuality, it doesn't much matter how the state of negotiations are described because all it takes is for one meeting for an agreement to emerge out of nowhere. Of course, they need to get together for that to happen.
