Hockey Hall of Famer and elite sniper Brett Hull believes that Alex Ovechkin will flourish under new head coach Adam Oates in Washington.
"I'm excited about it but I'm also not really excited about it because he's going to break all the records," Hull said with a laugh. "It's crazy. He's going to thrive under Oates. There's just no question. When I played, Adam was my coach. He told me what we were going to do, when we were going to do it, how we were going to do it and it always worked. He'll be able to do the same thing with Ovechkin and [Nicklas] Backstrom too." Hull said that Oates understands great players and he can get the best out of them. Ovechkins' declining offensive totals over the past two seasons has been a hot topic, but he certainly has the talent to rebound and the changes to the Capitals during the off-season could help as well.
