Konopka stays on Long Island after deadline
Zenon Konopka - C - New York Islanders
March 1, 2011 - 8:25 AM ET

Zenon Konopka's name was mentioned in several trade rumors on deadline day, but he ended up remaining on Long Island.

A deal that would've sent him to Anaheim was rumored to be imminent, but the discussions were later revealed to be nothing past the preliminary stages. It's probably a good thing that he wasn't moved as he has been an outspoken leader for the Islanders this season. Konopka is also a great faceoff man and he plays with plenty of toughness. He has amassed 224 penalty minutes this season, which is first in the NHL.
