Ilya Kovalchuk had a game-high nine shots on Monday, but nothing to show for it.
Kovalchuk also took eight shots on Saturday, but was held scoreless. He has no goals and two assists in three games with the Devils. "He's trying so much to score and he's squeezing the stick a little bit," coach Jacques Lemaire said. "He's so anxious to contribute the way he can, by scoring goals, but his game is fine. It's just a matter of time that he's going to feel better and get better shots." It shouldn't be long before Kovalchuk scores his first goal in a Devils' uniform and then he should start to relax a bit.
