Feb. 1, 2010 - 4:20 PM ET

According to WCCO.com, the Twins and Joe Mauer have agreed to a 10-year contract extension.

Terms of the contract have not yet been announced, but it should be amongst the richest in baseball history. This is obviously great news for Twins fans and the organization, as Mauer is amongst the game's elite performers. The 26-year-old hit an incredible .365/.444/.587 in 2009 with a career-high 28 home runs and 96 RBI. He also won the American League MVP and a Gold Glove.
