Non-Super Bowl storylines to follow

Focus turns to Collective Bargaining Agreement, issues with OT format

Roger GoodellASSOCIATED PRESS
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will be facing a lot of questions about labor issues next week, writes ProFootballTalk.com's Mike Florio.

6. Brett Favre
A major offseason question will surely be a hot topic of Super Bowl week, especially as discussion continues regarding the epic conference title game that resulted in the Saints' shot at its first Lombardi Trophy.

Will Favre return for a 20th season?

It surely won't be answered any time soon, but that won't stop anyone from talking about it.

So what will Favre do? He undoubtedly doesn't know, and he won't know until the calendar says June or July. Or maybe August.

7. Donovan McNabb
One guy on whom the Vikings could rely to fill the void created if Favre retires (and if it sticks) is long-time Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb.

Though the Eagles have said that McNabb will be back and McNabb has said that he wants to return, the fact that McNabb is under contract for one more season justifies speculation that the Eagles would be willing to move him, for the right price.

But what is the right price? If the Detroit Lions got first-, third- and fifth-round picks for receiver Roy Williams and a seventh-round pick, then it would be reasonable for the Eagles to request two first-round picks for McNabb.

With multiple teams possibly needing a quarterback and few available on the open market, they just might get it.

8. Tim Tebow
Between his Senior Bowl performance and his high-profile Super Bowl commercial, former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow will be getting plenty of attention in Miami.

Regardless of whether he's in town.

Some draft prospects opt to lay low during Super Bowl week, avoiding the attention until after the draft. Some opt to make a splash, especially if a sponsor is paying them to do so.

Either way, there will be plenty of chatter regarding Tebow's prospects in the NFL, at quarterback or some other position.

9. Chad Ochocinco
Two years ago, Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco went table to table at Radio Row, spreading the word to every NFL city other than Cincinnati that he'd love to play football there. Last year, Ochocinco was committed to Cincinnati.

This year, it's anybody's guess as to whether Ochocinco will express love or hate for the only team for which he has played.

His discontent from 2008 was believed to have been a product of his desire for a new contract. With the salary cap disappearing as of March, players under contract might decide to start causing trouble in the hopes of getting paid.

If Ochocinco is inclined to start trouble in Cincinnati, he might very well get the process started new week in South Florida.
