Roman Hamrlik reportedly told Marc-Antoine Godin, of La Presse, that he would be willing to take a reduced salary and a different role on the Canadiens to remain with the organization after this season.
"It's not a question of money," said the 36-year-old defender. "At my age, it's important to be comfortable where you are. I'm happy in Montreal, I've made friends here over the years and I don't want to move. I'd like to sign another contract and finish my career here, but the decision isn't mine to make." He averages over 22 minutes of ice time per contest with Montreal and has turned in good numbers with 24 points, 61 penalty minutes and a plus-2 rating in 54 contests. Hamrlik is currently making $5.5 million and he is slated to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
