Buster Olney of ESPN.com hears that the Mets and Athletics might be in the best position to be aggressive on free agent right-hander Ben Sheets.
Olney is basing this assertion on the the agents' perception of who has money this late in the offseason. On the opposite end of the spectrum, there are a lot of questions among agents about whether the Rangers or Dodgers would have enough money to afford Sheets. Both the Mets and Atheltics have been passed over as free agent destinations this winter, but with an uncertain rotation, New York should have the greater sense of urgency to take a chance on the oft-injured ace.
