Ottawa's assistant GM Tim Murray told NHL.com that Mika Zibanejad will spend the 2012-13 season in North America after he spent the majority of the previous year in Europe.
"He's staying no matter what," Murray said. "Whether its Ottawa or Binghamton, we're not sending him back. So he's here." Zibanejad made the Senators out of training camp last fall, as an 18-year-old, and he dressed in nine games before being reassigned to Djurgardens of the Swedish Elite League. Depending on what happens, Murray said Ottawa may loan Zibanejad to Sweden for the 2013 World Junior Championship, but he'll get every opportunity for an NHL spot.
