Report: Cards submit new offer to OF Holliday

The Cardinals will present Matt Holliday with an offer worth about $16 million a season, according to MLB.com.
The annual money, at least to Holliday, will seem underwhelming after he was seeking in excess of $20 million per year earlier this offseason. What is intriguing about the proposal is its reported length -- possibly as long as an eight-year commitment, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Holliday is reportedly seeking $18 million per year, but an acquiescence by St. Louis in contract length could conceivably lead to negotiation progress. Stay tuned.
