The Avalanche re-signed restricted free agent Erik Johnson to a four-year, $15 million deal.
The blueliner had 26 points this past season, but as a former number-one pick, has seen his offensive production stall a bit over the past few seasons. Still, the $3.75 million cap hit isn't all that bad for a 24-year-old with Johnson's promise. He made $3 million in the 2011-12 campaign. "Since Erik's arrival in Colorado, he has provided stability, size and an offensive presence to our blueline," said general manager Greg Sherman.' "At only 24 years of age, we believe that Erik will continue to grow his game and we are thrilled to have him under contract."
