The Nationals are not yet close to an agreement with free agent reliever Matt Capps, according to Bill Ladson of MLB.com.
Capps' agent, according to Ladson, is still talking to Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo. For now the door is wide open for another team to jump in and outbid Washington and the Cubs have shown some interest. Capps is just 26 and boasts some talent, but he posted a 5.80 ERA in 2009.
