Dalton Thrower has been claimed by the Montreal Canadiens with the 51st overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
Thrower is likely the most fearless defensemen in this year's class. He's the type of player that you love having but hate playing against. Despite his smaller frame, he is a physical agitator who is one of the toughest and grittiest prospects in the draft. People focus on his physical play, but he is quite talented offensively. He tallied 18 goals and 54 points this season while anchoring the Saskatoon power play with his rocket point shot. Thrower has the ability to lead the rush, but also makes smart decisions with the first pass. At times he can become too reckless on the ice, but he has the type of character and will to win that NHL organizations look for. Many scouts believe he could become the next Kevin Bieksa.
