Ramsay wins South African Open in a playoff
Dec. 21, 2009 - 3:20 PM ET

Scotland's Richie Ramsay defeated India's Shiv Kapur in a playoff to win the South African Open.

In the playoff, Kapur found trouble with his tee ball and couldn't recover on the par-5 18th hole while Ramsay two-putted from 12 feet for birdie and the title. It's the first European Tour victory for the 2006 U.S. Amateur champion. The Sunshine Tour's money leader, Anders Hansen, was already eligible for the British Open, so there were no additions to the 2010 major qualifiers today. The top-50 on next week's world golf ranking (December 28) will earn tee times at the Masters.
