For the second straight year, Pekka Rinne is a Vezina Trophy finalist, but this year may have been even more impressive than last.
Rinne's stats (league-leading 43 wins, 2.39 goals-against average and .923 save percentage) may not be as good as they were last season and they might not match up with Jonathan Quick's or Henrik Lundqvist's, but he kept a young, inconsistent squad in the thick of things throughout the season. "He works hard every game. Even though he's playing every game, he doesn't want days off. We have to ask him to take days off," general manager David Poile said. "If you want to put your money somewhere, was there a better place to put it than Pekka? So he's exactly what the franchise ordered."
