Deflection keeps Devils alive for Stanley Cup
Bryce Salvador - D - New Jersey Devils
June 9, 2012 - 11:20 PM ET

Bryce Salvador, who missed the entire 2010-11 season because of a concussion, scored the winning goal on a deflection off a defenseman at 9:05 of the second period in New Jersey Saturday night to keep the Devils alive in the Stanley Cup championship series against the Los Angeles Kings.

The Devils prevailed 2-1 and now trail the Kings 3-2 in the best-of-seven NHL championship showdown. Salvador, a previously unheralded defenseman, has been an extremely valuable player for the Devils in the post-season, with four goals. Zach Parise also scored for New Jersey. It was his eighth in the post-season and first in the Stanley Cup final. Parise opened the scoring on an unassisted, power-play goal at 12:45 of the first period.
