Report: Ian Laperriere plans to retire soon
Ian Laperriere - W - Philadelphia Flyers
June 8, 2012 - 4:45 PM ET

Ian Laperriere, who hasn't played since June 9, 2010 because of a head injury, reportedly plans to retire after the conclusion of the 2012 Stanley Cup finals.

Had Laperriere retired earlier, his annual cap hit would have counted against the Philadelphia Flyers. However, because he held off on his announcement, Philadelphia was able to keep him on the long-term injured reserve list. He had 336 points and 1,956 penalty minutes in 1,083 career NHL games with the St. Louis Blues, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, Colorado Avalanche, and Flyers.
