Report: Hunter sends second letter to players
Derek Fisher - G - Los Angeles Lakers
Nov. 2, 2011 - 3:05 AM ET

Amidst scrutiny that the players union is splintering, Billy Hunter sent a letter to players dismissing media reports and urging unity on Tuesday.

The NBPA has turned into an internal letter-writing campaign for at least one day before they turn their focus to Thursday's players meeting. This all started when Fox Sports was leaked a story by individuals seeking to discredit Fisher, who has since secured attorneys and demanded a retraction from the news outlet. The last 24 hours has been a crystallizing moment for the players, who have seen their credibility wane while reports (and common sense) suggest that 50/50 may be the best offer they see. All the while, Hunter appears to be more worried about his job than his duty, and players are questioning where this is all heading. There have been plenty of false starts lately, but the point of no return is here.
