The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired the rights to Tomas Vokoun and promptly signed him to a two-year/$4 million contract extension.
Pittsburgh sent the Washington Capitals a seventh round pick in exchange for the right to negotiate with Vokoun. He would have become an unrestricted free agent this summer. This is a great pickup for Pittsburgh, but it's also bad news for any potential Vokoun owners. Vokoun will settle into the backup role in Pittsburgh and while he might get more playing time than your typical number two goaltender, his fantasy value is likely to be limited.
