According to Jason Whitlock of FoxSports.com, NBPA leadership confronted Derek Fisher on Friday about "the belief that ... Fisher has been co-opted by commissioner David Stern ' and promised the commish he could deliver the union at 50-50."
According to the report, Fisher was pushing to accept a 50-50 split of BRI (and Kobe Bryant was on board), but he was dissuaded by NBPA executive director Billy Hunter and "a member of the executive committee." It's intriguing that Fisher may have pushed for 50-50, but the entire article is short on facts and quotes, and long on injurious speculation and insinuation (the title is "Is Fisher in Stern's back pocket?"). Whitlock has compared Fisher to Sonny Corleone from the Godfather, and both Stringer Bell and Cheese Wagstaff from The Wire, and we're not putting any stock in his characterizations.
