Spaniard P. Martin takes '10 Euro Tour opener
Dec. 13, 2009 - 1:45 PM ET

Pablo Martin shot 17-under-par 271 to win the European Tour's 2010 season-opening Alfred Dunhill Championship by one stroke over the host country's Charl Schwartzel.

The 23-year-young Spaniard laid up from 175 yards on the par-5 72nd hole, settling for a tournament-clinching par and his first professional victory and second career on his tour. He was the first amateur to ever win on the Euro Tour in 2007 (Portugal Open). Martin had just one top-10 during the 2009 season and finished 118th in the Race to Dubai.
