Brandon Prust has received a one-game suspension for elbowing New Jersey's Anton Volchenkov in the back of the head.
The incident occurred in the second period of Game 3. "While it's true that Volchenkov turns away from Prust in order to avoid being checked, his doing so does not cause an otherwise legal hit to become an elbow to the head," disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan said. "Rather, Prust reacts to Volchenkov's evasive move by flaring his elbow. In fact, it's not until after he realizes that he will not make contact that Prust extends and raises his elbow to clip Volchenkov's head." Prust will miss Monday's game, but he will be eligible to return on Wednesday.
