The Minnesota Wild have signed defenseman Clayton Stoner to a two-year deal worth $2.1 million.
He was slated for unrestricted free agency on July 1 if a new contract had not been reached. Stoner suffered through another injury-plagued season in 2011-12 that witnessed him dress in 51 contests after he played in 57 the year before. He picked up five points, 72 hits, 80 blocks, 62 penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating last campaign and his physical style is well-liked by coach Mike Yeo. He could have some fantasy value if he can stay healthier in 2012-13.
