According to Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times, the Mariners "have made a concerted push" to sign free agent outfielder Jason Bay.
Like Harden, the Mariners may hold an advantage based on the fact that Bay is from British Columbia. The interest is sure to bring some skepticism given general manager Jack Zduriencik's preference for defense, however Seattle needs a middle-of-the-order bat so badly that they may be willing to overlook his deficiencies in the field. It's very early, but according to the report, Bay has been telling people he is optimistic about signing with Seattle. Consider them a darkhorse.
