APNEW ORLEANS - Frank Warren rushed for 166 yards and two touchdowns and Grambling State defeated Southern University 31-13 in the 36th Bayou Classic on Saturday in the Louisiana Superdome.
The Tigers (7-4, 5-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) won for the fifth time in six games to end their season. The Jaguars (6-4, 3-3) finish their season at Texas Southern next week.
Grambling led 14-13 at halftime and extended its lead to eight on the first possession of the second half when Warren scored on a 13-yard run. The Tigers extended their lead to 24-13 when Ari Johnson kicked a 24-yard field goal with 4:40 left in the game.
Warren completed the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run with 1 minute remaining. Grambling’s conference-leading running game accounted for all four touchdowns as Greg Dillon ran 8 yards and Kiare Thompson ran 14 yards for first-quarter touchdowns.
