Jose Contreras won't be a fit with the Softbank Hawks in Japan, according to Patrick Newman of NPB Tracker.
After working out for the club on Thursday, the Hawks cited roster space and uncertainty about how they would use him as reasons to move on. Talks could be re-kindled in the event that imports Brian Falkenborg, D.J. Houlton and Justin Germano aren't retained or the club suffers an injury during the season. Contreras could consider Hiroshima Carp, a club in close proximity to his son's school, but it is not known if they have interest.
