Briere earns two-game suspension from league

Daniel Briere has been suspended for two games for a hit on the Avalanche defender Scott Hannan on Monday night.

Briere left his feet and elbowed Hannan in the neck in a blindside hit. Hannan left the game and did not return, but Briere was not even given a penalty on the play. He will be eligible to return on Saturday in Atlanta.
