Kobe Bryant played through his well-covered ankle injury in the Lakers' 106-90 Game 5 win over the Hornets on Tuesday, scoring 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting with two rebounds, four assists, and one steal in 28.5 minutes.
He started off slow, and even appeared to be a decoy, but as his ankle warmed up it was clear he was fine -- and the Hornets even publicly questioned if he was really hurt at all. As he threw down a few 'turn back the clock' dunks, we'd tend to agree that the injury may not be as bad as previously thought. Andrew Bynum (18 points, 10 boards, two blocks) and Pau Gasol (16 points, eight boards, three blocks) picked up the slack, and the Lakers take a 3-2 lead to New Orleans.
