Cavs GM still hopes to use TPE
J.J. Hickson - F/C - Cleveland Cavaliers
April 24, 2011 - 10:00 AM ET

Cavaliers GM Chris Grant hopes to use the team's $14.5 million traded player exception before it expires on July 10.

The TPE can't be used to acquire draft picks, but may be used for "any combination of players that are waived or traded...as long as they don't exceed ($14.6 million)," according to Grant. "You don't have to trade dollar and dollar like most trades. We can trade a second-round pick, the rights to a player, a first-round pick, any combination of those things." Such flexibility is crucial for the rebuilding Cavs.
