Upset Sunday: Chris Paul's Hornets take Gm. 1
Chris Paul - G - New Orleans Hornets
April 17, 2011 - 6:15 PM ET

Chris Paul was unstoppable in the fourth quarter, scoring 17 points and finishing with 33 points, seven rebounds, 14 assists, four steals and two 3-pointers as the Hornets stunned the Lakers in Los Angeles for a 109-100 Game 1 upset win.

Pau Gasol disappeared today, while Aaron Gray, who left late with a badly sprained ankle, didn't miss a shot and scored a season-high 12 points on 5-of-5 shooting for New Orleans. Paul looked like Derrick Rose out there today, minus the blinding speed, and any concerns about his knee coming in have been quickly forgotten. The Hornets joined the Grizzlies and Hawks as early Game 1 upset winners, and this marks the first time in modern history that both the No. 1 & 2 seed in one conference have lost Game 1 (Spurs, Lakers).
