Wesley Matthews dealt with early foul trouble, but was then benched in favor of Brandon Roy in Saturday's Game 1 loss to the Mavs, playing just 19 minutes with two points on 1-of-3 shooting, one rebound, one steal, and three turnovers.
Matthews didn't play great, or even good, but this was less about his play and more about allowing Brandon Roy to retain his status as a team leader. Expect a strong swing to the other side of the pendulum for Game 2, as Nate McMillan will be reminded over the next 48 hours that now is not the time for feelings.
