Phillies want Park as a reliever
Chan Ho Park - R - Philadelphia Phillies
Nov. 19, 2009 - 4:35 PM ET

The Phillies want Chan Ho Park to return next season, but only as a reliever.

"I think he understands," said general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. "In the back of his mind, maybe [he'd like to be a starter]. But after having discussions with the agent, they know his best role is as a reliever. Now, if there's somebody out there who wants to have him start, he may want to go do that. When he goes out there looking, we'll have to look elsewhere as well. We can't be left hanging. If we have to do something to improve the team with someone else, we'll move forward." Park was 1-1 with a 7.29 ERA in seven starts this season, but had a 2.52 ERA in 38 apperances out of the bullpen.
