VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -Canucks star goaltender Roberto Luongo is returning to the roster for Vancouver's game against the St. Louis Blues after missing two weeks with a broken rib.
Luongo is expected to back up Andrew Raycroft on Tuesday night. The Canucks sent goalie Cory Schneider to Manitoba of the AHL earlier Tuesday. Luongo could make his first start since the injury on Thursday in Detroit.
Luongo was injured when a sharp-angle shot hit a seam in his chest protector during a game Oct. 24 against Toronto. He finished that game and posted a shutout against Edmonton the following night before the pain in his ribcage flared up during a loss to Detroit on Oct. 27.
Raycroft was 4-1-0 during Luongo s absence.
