Briere had a tough season last year with only 53 points in 79 games as he went through a divorce and was not 100 percent healthy. But he had 30 points in 23 playoff games and has continued playing well through the first third of the season with linemates Scott Hartnell and Ville Leino. "There were a lot of things going on that probably didn't go the way I wanted to," Briere said last month. "Right now, my life is a lot easier. The last few years have been tough, with a lot of energy wasted away from the rink. Now, I can focus that energy on my time at the rink and my kids. It's positive energy. All the negative energy is out of my system." Briere should only get better as the season goes on and is a fantasy asset this season, especially if goals count extra in your pool.
