Patrik Elias is expected to play by Saturday
Patrik Elias - W - New Jersey Devils

Patrik Elias (groin) is mere days from making his season debut.

Elias participated in his first practice of the season on Monday. He's been sidelined since undergoing groin surgery on September 15th. Devils coach Jacques Lemaire thinks Elias might be able to play on Wednesday, but Elias isn't quite as optimistic. "I haven't practiced, I haven't played a game in five months," he said. "I don't think two practices will do. I think there's more danger to it than the positive side. [Monday] was practice and the guys knew it was my first time, so they backed off me a little bit and gave me time. Nobody's going to do that in a game." Elias thinks he'll probably make his season debut against the Islanders on Friday or the Senators on Saturday. Stay tuned.
