Brian Elliott replaced Jaroslav Halak with the Blues trailing 3-2 and they came back to win in a shootout.
Ken Hitchcock said that he did not replace Halak because of poor play but because the team was not playing well. "That's why you have to be prepared all the time," Elliott said. "We struggled to start the game and didn't give Jaro much help. It's a little bit tough (coming in cold), but it also makes it easier. You're not thinking about the game all day, you can kind of go in there and play your game and whatever happens, happens. That's what our mind-set was going into the third period."
