Q. I cannot get over how fast Chris Johnson is. What players in NFL history would you compare him to? I swear he’s going to score every time he touches the ball.

A. Johnson is an exciting player who really is kind of unique. Running backs just don’t come along with 4.24 40 yard dash times.

In a sense, Johnson is comparable to Gale Sayers, though Sayers was a different kind of runner. Sayers was more of a swerver. Johnson has more straight ahead burst. But neither of them could be caught by mere mortals.

Q. This takes a lot of never to say this, but I'm a Lions fan. I see them winning 6 games this year. What do you think?
— Nate, Washington D.C.

A. I think you are going to be disappointed. Personnel wise, that is one of the worst defenses I have seen in a long, long time. And the decision to start Matthew Stafford looks like it will cost the Lions a couple of games.

Q. If league owners insist on the elimination of revenue sharing, have we seen the last of the Vikings, Chiefs, Rams and Packers? What's your prediction (percentage) of a lockout after the current CBA expires?
— Deke Martin, Durango, Colo.

A. The owners will not insist on elimination of revenue sharing between teams. It is one of the bedrocks of the league. But I do believe the amount of revenue shared between teams and players will be a very high hurdle in negotiations.  I think there probably is a 70 percent chance of a lockout from where we sit today.

Q. Hey Dan, maybe you've answered this one before. How come the Steelers players have only one emblem or logo on the side of their helmet?
— Oliver Jones, Fredericksburg, Va.

A. The team decided to go with the logo on one side because of its uniqueness and the fact that after the Steelers tried the helmet in its current form in 1962, the team had their best season up until that point. The Steelers helmet has been unchanged since.
