Garrigus in 3-way tie for the lead at Kapalua
Jan. 8, 2011 - 10:45 PM ET

Robert Garrigus posted a third round of 4-under-par 69 and shares the overnight lead with Steve Stricker and Jonathan Byrd at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.

It was a rough start for Garrigus as he opened his first two holes with a double-bogey and a bogey. He rebounded with consecutive birdies on his next two holes and a birdie at the par-5 9th brought him back to even-par on his round. On the back nine, Garrigus was three-strokes off the lead when he strung together consecutive birdies starting at the 14th and the highlight of his round came when he dropped a 56-foot eagle-bomb at the par-5 18th to tie for the lead. The three leaders are three-strokes clear of the fourth place player, Carl Pettersson, and they are six-strokes clear of Graeme McDowell and Bill Hass, who share sixth place.
