Willis dials in irons to co-lead in Memphis
June 11, 2010 - 7:30 PM ET

Garrett Willis is 9-under-par 66-65=131 and co-leading after two rounds of the St. Jude Classic.

Willis is the only 2009 Nationwide Tour graduate that has a PGA TOUR victory on his resume. He's cashed in nine of 12 starts this year, but doesn't have a top 10. That will change if he continues to pure his irons over the weekend in Memphis. Through 36 holes, he's hit a field-high 30 greens and needed a mere 57 putts. Today's bogey-free round include a birdie conversion from 54'6" at the 3rd hole. He also rolled in birdies from 17'8" and 19'2" at the 15th and 18th, respectively, as well as a par save from 12'5" at the 8th. His only TOUR victory occurred in his first start on the big circuit, at the 2001 Tucson Open.
