From the moment Brett Favre retired from the New York Jets, I was convinced he would eventually play for the Minnesota Vikings. His passion to play and stick it to the Packers were enough motivation to get him to sign with the Vikings.

And $12 million in 2010 and the opportunity to make much more in 2011 doesn't hurt, either.

Favre has shown he has the biggest ego in professional sports — he has changed his mind more than Michael Jordan or any washed-up boxer in the past 50 years. But the circus surrounding his arrival in Minnesota, with the helicopters chasing him to the Vikings facility, proves he is is in a select group of athletes/celebrities who can get away with it.

I'm excited about Favre's return because he is still relevant and I like to watch legends play at the highest level. He is a three-time MVP who holds almost every significant quarterback record and still wants to compete against the best athletes in the world. I currently play softball and try to go to the gym a few days a week, so don't expect me to rip a guy who wants to play professional football for $12 million per season. My only problem with Favre is that he chooses not to be upfront with the media and fans about the process that makes him change his mind so often.

By signing with the Vikings, Favre lost another huge percentage of Packers fans. Green Bay supporters shouldn't feel pressured to come to grips with this any time soon. It was easy for Michael Jordan’s fans to wish him well and cheer for him when he went to play for the Washington Wizards. I have yet to interact with any true Packers fan who wants Favre to succeed with their division rivals.

Unless Derek Jeter is traded to the Red Sox or Kobe Bryant ends his career with the Celtics, Favre’s joining the Vikings could be the most controversial change of uniform in the history of sports. Expect extra security to be added at any sports bar in the Midwest that caters to fans of the Packers and Vikings. Favre posters are being pulled off walls throughout the state of Wisconsin and I'm sure that a few No. 4 tattoos are about to be removed by macho men who want to prove their undying loyalty to Green Bay.

It is now "Super Bowl or bust in Minnesota." Vikings fans can't have it both ways. If you are going to bring public enemy No. 1 into your family, certain rules must apply.

1. Favre must conduct himself as a true Viking at all times. He can't complain and compare his new team to the legendary franchise that he once played for in Green Bay.
